Turkey will construct over 200,000 new homes in the southeast of the nation, which was ravaged by a significant earthquake two weeks ago, according to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday.
More than 41,000 people were murdered and millions of more lost their houses in Turkey as a result of a 7.8-magnitude earthquake on February 6 and its aftershocks.

As he prepares for his biggest political test—the elections scheduled for May—Erdogan is eager to demonstrate that his administration would do all possible for those affected.
According to Erdogan, the earthquake caused major damage to or the collapse of 118,000 structures.

Erdogan promised that "the structures will be built... on solid foundation and utilising the correct procedures."
The new residences, he said, will be constructed "near to the mountains," away from fault lines, "protecting against difficulties that are produced by soft soil."

Speaking after touring the damaged districts in Hatay province, Erdogan stated that the state was sheltering over 1,6 million people in the area.

According to Erdogan, 114,834 individuals were pulled from the wreckage by rescuers. Nine provinces have stopped the search and rescue operations, but as of Sunday, they were still going on in Hatay and Kahramanmaras.
